Laje de Santos Marine State Park
The Laje de Santos Marine State Park (PEMLS) was created on the
27th of september of 1993, through the State
Decree nº 37.537. PEMLS is the first marine park within the
Conservation Units of the State of São Paulo and has, as its primary
goal, the conservation of the marine environment.
PEMLS
has its own administrative headquarters, being supervised by the Forest
Foundation, a branch of the Environment
Bureau of the State of São Paulo.
In geographical terms, PEMLS belongs to the city of Santos and,
according to the Nautical
Chart nº 1711, is located at 164º and 16,8 nautical miles of its
continental reference point, the Moela Island lighthouse.
